Homearama From The Content Squad’s Perspective
This year’s Homearama was a huge success, with record crowds recorded and outstanding reviews given from new home buyers. Many of my friends from The Content Squad were part of that record crowd, touring each home and noting which eye-popping features seemed to stand out most to them. Here’s a run down of their Homearama perspectives and what impacted them most. “I attended Homearama for the first time with my wife and it was really cool to see the many differing builders’ styles and the unique blend of color schemes that were used creatively throughout each home.” –Greg “I love … Read more

Crimsafe Screens Used on PL Lyons Homearama Home
Imagine the force of five steel balls weighing about the same as a .22 caliber bullet being fired rapidly at a mesh screen, whirling at speeds up to 67 miles per hour. What would you expect the screens to look like at the end of that experiment? The mesh screens were quite weathered, but remained holding tight within the frame. The steel balls were part of a pure impact test given to competitors of Crimsafe, a security screen that originated in Australia and has made a triumphant entrance into the United States. Crimsafe screens are being used on patios and … Read more

Benefits of a Green Community: How Bioswales Work
This year’s Homearama boasted many new and innovative features, from the air-tight protection of the CrimSafe patio net to the highly practical addition of the pocket office, a technological home for traveling electronics and a safety haven for household mail. There was only glaring feature that was missing from this year’s Homearama, sewers. For the first time in Homearama history, the community was developed utilizing the existing flow of the land to treat the vast majority of storm water drainage naturally. Bioswales at Shakes Run help to remove pollutants that often end up in the local creeks and streams during … Read more

Homearama Louisville 2014 Recap
Another successful Homearama goes down in the books this year as thousands of eager patrons trekked the eight decked out homesites in Shakes Run gathering decorating ideas, seeking potential new homes, and investigating home builders for a variety of home building options. Astounding traffic to this year’s Homearama brought record crowds each night and weekend to the 2014 home site. Tremendous interest was expressed by many patrons, which is a promising sign that the desire and demand for building expertise is on the rise. Bustling interest in this year’s show resulted in the sales of both of our entered homes. … Read more

Pint-Sized Playhouse up For Bid; Profits Benefit Charity
There is no grand entry way or pocket office off the garage, but the pint-sized “home” built for kiddos by PL Lyons is sure to be an award winner in every category. This is the first year builder Perry Lyons designed, built, and completely finished a small playhouse to benefit the Building Industry Charitable Foundation (BICF). The one-room, fully trimmed, painted, and functional playhouse is on display near the center of Homearama 2014 in Shake’s Run this year. The first person to make a donation to the BICF that hits a specified monetary goal, will walk away with this playhouse. … Read more
