We recently renovated a beautiful home in Prospect, Kentucky that was originally built in the 1940’s. This complete remodeling proved to be a fun project as we worked to make the old blend in with the new. Below is a video we created that explains our process, materials used, and how we worked with the clients to bring their vision to life.
The P.L. Lyons Process
We listen to your ideas and vision, input our own, and create solutions that please every time. We have a four-part process we use with every client that has proven to provide the best, most detailed estimates. Since our specialty is custom homes, not stock plans, every project is different and all the details matter. Our process ensures you can count on us.
- Design. We can work with something as simple as napkin drawings to lists of what you’d like to see, to then create a collaborative design. On a computer, we lay out the design to your exact specifications with 3-D views, which allows us to accurately estimate of materials needed. The end result of this process is a final blueprint.
- Pre-Construction. Next, Perry takes the blueprint and does a detailed cost estimate. The client is involved in this process as well and can see the price of every nail, piece of lumber, and rock that will be used to create your home. Clients are also heavily involved in choosing what type of lumber, rocks, nails, etc. are used in the building or renovation of your home.
- Construction. The construction process is very detailed and every project is a display of our custom craftsmanship. From basement excavation to sod and landscaping, clients can follow along with the process.
- Post-Construction. We take you all the way through closing and providing a 1-year home warranty to coming back for repeat business when you need your next update. We have a great network of suppliers and vendors who keep us updated on the latest in the building business. We also invest a lot of time in continuing education to better serve our loyal customers.
High-End Custom Home Remodeling
The owners of this home desired to maintain the original style of the house while expanding onto it and creating a more modern interior. We added a garage and a large addition to the home as well as performed a complete remodel of the inside. We created custom built-in bookcases that incorporated some old barn wood from a barn that had been on the property, which matches the old theme of the house. We updated the kitchen with modern cabinetry, specialized granite in the kitchen, lighted stone in the bar, and incorporated older granite in the entryway.
When the owners started out, they originally hired architects and builders from separate companies to work together on their home. They quickly found out that there was always a disconnect between the two. They began to look for a firm with an architect and builder in one. That’s just one of the things that make us unique.
