The weather is far from perfect in Kentucky. We try not to let it stall progress when we’re at work on a construction project. We’ve hauled in huge heaters to deal with sudden freezing temps. Still, the weather can certainly impact the building process.
All year long, though, we can effectively manage a remodeling or renovation. Projects like that are almost always a shorter time frame than all-new construction. So whether it’s winter or summer, you should consider taking the next step on your remodeling idea. The longer you wait on making those updates, the more it will bug you. Now’s the time!
Now Is The Time To Think About Remodeling Your Home
We love building custom homes from the ground up, but we also love making custom updates to your home through remodels and renovations. Many consider Spring to be the best time to begin a remodel, but with only a few months until Spring begins (not that we’re counting), now is definitely the time to get the ball rolling on those remodel or renovation plans.
Early Spring is considered a good time for several reasons. If you’re wanting work to be done outside the house, like a new addition, the Spring is one of the better times to work outside. It could still be pretty chilly in Kentucky in March, but we’re hoping for a more neutral early Spring season. However, the colder months and dry air provide a better environment for building. Additionally, if you begin planning now and partner with us, we can help finalize your vision and plans by the time Early Spring begins. You may only want to remodel or renovate inside your home. If that’s the case, we can partner with you on that right away so that you’ll soon enjoy that updated space in your house.
The Difference Between Remodeling And Renovation
Many people ask this question. To us, remodeling is when we totally rework something like changing a floor plan or changing the layout and design of a kitchen. It’s a more complete change. Renovations are more of an update of an existing part of a structure. This makes sense when you want to maintain something historical but you want to make it look newer with fresh paint or by restoring original finishes.
We created a video of a beautiful home we remodeled, along with a few renovation techniques, in Prospect, Kentucky recently. The home was built in the 1940’s and the owners wanted to keep some of the classic charm while completely remodeling the inside. This proved to be a fun project as we worked to make the old blend in with the new. Below is a video we created that explains our process of remodeling and renovation, the materials used, and how we worked with the clients to bring their vision to life.
If you’re thinking about updating, adding on, or completely remodeling, schedule a building assessment and click on Remodel/Renovation as “type of building project.” We’d love to work with you.
