Another successful Homearama goes down in the books this year as thousands of eager patrons trekked the eight decked out homesites in Shakes Run gathering decorating ideas, seeking potential new homes, and investigating home builders for a variety of home building options.
Astounding traffic to this year’s Homearama brought record crowds each night and weekend to the 2014 home site. Tremendous interest was expressed by many patrons, which is a promising sign that the desire and demand for building expertise is on the rise. Bustling interest in this year’s show resulted in the sales of both of our entered homes. Lot 165 was sold just after the framing and foundation work began and lot 166 was sold in the last week of the show. Both houses were sold as contracts from the start or were sold during the show, confirming that Homearama was a huge success for PL Lyons this year.
Equally successful was the innovative “green” community concept that provided added energy conservation ideas and natural solutions for outdoor drainage. For the first time ever, Homearama offered the most sustainable site in the tour’s history with its four bioswales, a form of green infrastructure that naturally infiltrates stormwater. Homes this year were also loaded with Energy Smart options that provide savings in a variety of areas.
PL Lyons also introduced an added feature to give back this year. A playhouse designed and built by PL Lyons was put up for bid to the highest bidder, with 100% of the proceeds benefitting the Building Industry’s Charitable Foundation (BICF), which helps fund the Kosair Kids Playhouses that are built by BIA and Youth Build yearly. Our hope is that this first playhouse will spark further competition with other builders in years to come.
