They say “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.” Well this is not the case for our time at the Internationals Builders Show this year. We’ve been so busy implementing some of the ideas we gathered there as well as talking to some of you about building a home in 2019. So we’re just now getting around to sharing our favorite moments from the show.
We were honored to have had the privilege to attend this huge, annual event. The 2019 NAHB International Home Builders’ Show was held on February 19th through the 21st at the Las Vegas Convention Center. It was definitely one to remember when it comes to all things homebuilding and design. This was the 75th IBS and the turnout speaks for itself; with over 1,500 exhibitors and 100,000 people in attendance, it was the biggest show in the last 10 years!
We appreciate the opportunity to attend an event that is so valuable to our industry and allows us to make connections across the United States with other companies, people, and vendors. Ever heard of Houzz? We spent some time talking with them, for instance. We got to hear amazing speakers like Dr. Ben Carson who shared about urban housing development. We’d enjoyed live music and good food too. So read on for a recap of our time and activities we participated in while in Vegas!
IBS 2019
While at the show, our team as able to watch live demonstrations featuring the newest technologies in the industry, new products on the market, and even participate in fun contests for prizes. It was a time to make connections and open up doors of opportunity to collaborate and network with others in our industry.
Learning about new information within homebuilding always us. It’s these kinds of moments that push us to grow in the work we do. Our team always wants to bring the latest and greatest ideas to the Greater Louisville housing market. That’s why events like the International Builders Shows are imperative to our growth.
For example, a big exhibition during the show was the upcoming creation of the most energy efficient home of the year. This is not only an exciting and worthy initiative, but the people who are leading it are looking for collaboration from organizations across the country on innovative technology that think outside the box when it comes to energy and environmental consciousness.
As always, the Show Floor allowed attendees to see new and tried and true practices that make up the work we do.

Other Exciting News
During our time at IBS 2019, we shared in a very proud moment. Our founder and partner, Perry Lyons, has been working alongside a class of Shelby County High School students who are interested in architectural and construction-related fields. This group of students competed in the NAHB Student Competition at the Show, where they tested their skill against other top schools from across the country. Their goal in the competition was to apply skills they’ve learned in the classroom to real-world projects.
After 6 years of placing in the top five for this competition, Shelby County High School finally won first place this year! They were one of 47 contestants. So this is a very impressive accomplishment. Congrats to these national champions! Thanks for representing our region so well!
Perry has loved offering himself as a mentor to these students. He’s definitely proud to give back to his community and teach the future generation of builders and architects about the importance of trade skills. This is a passion for him.
We are so proud of these students for winning the competition and excelling in their efforts to better their knowledge of the building industry. Read more about their success here in the story published in the March addition of Louisville Builder.
It’s been a great first quarter of the year for us already, especially with moments like these. If you are interested in learning more about the latest technology and trends in homebuilding and design for 2019 because you’ve got your own home dreams you’d like to make a reality, we’d love to talk with you.
